Closer to Nature
At New Beginnings, we understand the importance of outdoor exploration for children’s physical and mental well-being. We are fortunate to have a spacious outdoor area that provides opportunities for children to engage in a variety of physical activities. These activities not only help develop their fine and gross motor skills but also offer a wealth of enriching experiences.
Our outdoor space is also designed to connect children with nature. Through our dedicated planters, we teach them to grow their own fruits and vegetables. Research highlights that gardening benefits children of all ages by fostering critical skills and offering valuable learning opportunities that extend into other areas of their lives. Each child receives individual seeds to plant and nurture before transferring them to the planters. Watching these seeds germinate and grow gives the children an unparalleled sense of accomplishment.
Moreover, our nature-based activities encourage children to engage their five senses. They feel the textures of soil, leaves, flowers, and produce; hear the rustling of leaves as seasons change; observe the vibrant colours of nature’s cycles; smell the fragrant herbs they’ve planted; and, most excitingly, taste the fruits of their labour during our cookery class sessions. This hands-on experience not only enhances their sensory awareness but also fosters a lifelong appreciation for nature and healthy eating.
